Frequently Asked Questions:

What is a walk team?  A walk team is a group of 15 or more registered walkers under a single team name.

Can children attend the event?  All walk participants must be at least 18 years old.  We, however, gladly welcome children to observe that day's events with a non-participating adult.  Only registered walkers will be allowed on the walk path.

Will pets be allowed at the event?  For the safety of your pet and all attending adults and children, we ask that animals not be brought to the event.

Who can join my walk team?  Anyone!  It doesn’t just have to be members of your organization; it can also be friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, etc.

How much does it cost?  $20 dollars is the registration fee per person.  All registration fees and donations are tax deductible.

What do I need to do?  We ask that each walk team aspire to raise at least $1500.  That means that if each member of a 15 person team raises $100 over the next 3 months, you will meet your minimum goal!  Of course, we gladly encourage your team to raise your fundrasing bar.  The education, equality, and safety of Michigan women will greatly benefit from your effort.

What if we don’t raise $1500?  Any money raised is a job well done.  No matter how much your team raises, we appreciate your effort and commitment to the cause.  Walk teams, however, that are able to raise $1500 or more will receive recognition on www.walknow2008.org and will be eligible for special walk prizes and giveaways.  The team that raises the most money, as well as the individual who raises the most money, will also receive a special gift for their leadership and commitment.

What if I can’t find 15 people to be on my walk team? Again, we understand.  This is a goal, not a requirement.

What will the money I raise go towards?  Michigan NOW foundation’s goal is to conduct charitable and educational programs that  promote women’s equality.

Where is Kensington Metro Park ?  2240 W. Buno Road , Milford , MI   48380 (248)685-1561.

That’s sort of far away, how would I get there?  We encourage our walkers to set up car pools with their walk teams.  Not only does it save you money on gas and parking, but it saves the environment!  Parking in Kensington is $4 per car.

“With more than two and a half million visitors each year, Kensington Metro Park is a 4,481- acre, first- class, recreational facility.  Its wooded, hilly terrain surrounds beautiful Kent Lake .  The park features an 18-hole regulation golf course, a disc golf course, a nature center, a farm learning center, picnic areas, beaches, boat rentals and a paved hike-bike trail.”  - http://www.metroparks.com/parks/pk_kensington.php
